SUMMARY:The Truth About Jack the Ripper
DESCRIPTION:The Truth about Jack the Ripper is a story that is very well-known to many. Five prostitutes were killed in Whitechapel\, London’s East End\, during the autumn of 1888. The murders were committed by an unknown serial killer who slipped away into the fog. Thus began the taunting of the police with a series of letters laughing at their inability to catch him. \nThe trouble is\, almost none of the above is true. \nThe Truth about Jack the Ripper with True Crime Historian Adam Wood. \nThe Truth about Jack the Ripper\, at the Albany Theatre\nJoin crime historian Adam Wood to hear the truth behind the Whitechapel murders. Learn more about the victims’ stories\, daily life in the impoverished East End\, and some of the 300 suspects investigated by the Police. \nAdam Wood developed an interest in ‘Jack the Ripper’ as a young boy and was told that his great-grandfather Benjamin Wood had seen one of the victims’ bodies. He has subsequently spent more than forty years researching the facts behind the case\, specifically the social impact on the area and those who lived there at the time. \nAdam has been Executive Editor of Ripperologist magazine\, the largest circulation publication dedicated to severe research of the case\, for over twenty years. He regularly consulted for television\, radio and podcast documentaries on the subject. \nIn 2020 he published a detailed biography of the detective in charge of the Ripper investigation from Scotland Yard\, having been granted unprecedented access to his private archive by his descendants. This included the private notes in which the suspect’s fate was revealed – as was his name. \nBook Your Tickets here \n\nAbout Adam Wood\nNow living in Coventry\, Adam has carried out extensive research into local historic true crime. Adam has published three books on Coventry cases and offers historic true crime walking tours. \nCoventry Life will be attending one of Adam Woods’ True Crime Tours in the future. We’ll also be talking about his passion for all things True Crime. You can read some of our blog features here.
